On May 28th, 2021, Don Charity Foundation joined OSSIEC for a vital event at Kisota Secondary School in Kigamboni District. The Hedhi Salama Charity Walk was a response to the ongoing challenges that young girls face during their menstruation period, particularly the lack of access to menstrual products and hygiene education.
Our team provided the students with essential supplies, including sanitary pads, exercise books, and pens, while also engaging in open conversations about menstrual health and its impact on girls’ education. These discussions were not just about providing products, but about empowering young girls with knowledge, helping them to stay confident and focused on their studies during their periods.
One of the most impactful moments was when a student expressed, “Having access to sanitary pads will help me attend classes regularly without fear or embarrassment.” This event reaffirmed our commitment to promoting equal access to education, particularly for girls who are disproportionately affected by lack of menstrual hygiene resources.
Help us continue providing menstrual hygiene support to young girls by donating to our Safe Periods initiative.
